Today I decided to complete the Bat Biscuits grid and I’m kind of happy with how it turned out actually. I want to take this in some other directions and do some other iterations, but I feel like I’ve strayed from my original project idea which was to study the compositions of artists I really like.
On the other hand, sitting around endlessly copying the masters will just result in a book full of copies of masterworks and no work of my own. So I kind of want to just keep on doing these funny grids, working on the abstract reflections and just seeing what comes out at the end.
I suppose when I get hit with the dry patch (which is apparently waiting for me with claws unsheathed just around the creative corner) I can cycle back to square one again.
On other reflections, I am impressed that in a few days I will be a third of the way through the project. Go me! I haven’t the faintest idea where this is going, but according to past experience, life generally takes me in new directions when I do these kinds of challenges.
It has been really fun meeting other people doing their own challenges and watching where their efforts are taking them. It truly is very inspiring and has been a great reminder of how creatively varied we all are as a species.
